Village Diaper Bank reaches major milestone
MADISON, Wis. (WMTV) - The Village Diaper Bank announced big news Monday afternoon.
The nonprofit has distributed more than five million diapers since it first opened its doors in 2018.
WMTV went to the volunteer event at the Diaper Bank’s Warehouse on Monday, where the organization was celebrating with its volunteers and partner agencies who help support the cause.
Executive Director of the Village Diaper Bank Jamie Weissburg said this accomplishment was made through a team effort.
“We are so fortunate because we can’t do our work without volunteers or partners,” Weissburg. “We raise funds throughout the year and people donate diapers to us, but it is our partner agencies who are distributing them in the community.”
Right now, one in every two families in America struggles to afford diapers. Eighty dollars is the average monthly costs of diapers per child.
The Village Diaper Bank has 31 partner agencies and hopes to expand to Rock County by the end of the year.
WMTV partners with the Village Diaper Bank each year, which provides diapers to local organizations and nonprofits to hand out to families.
